About Bozeman Garage Builders

We build one category of building and we know the ground it goes on. This page says what we do, how we work, and what we will not claim.

No obligation. Every estimate starts with a walkthrough of the lot, the access and where the building can actually sit.

Who we are

A narrow trade, done properly

We build detached garages, shops, RV garages, post-frame buildings, lofts and garage apartments across the Gallatin Valley and the valleys around it. That is the whole list. We do not build houses and we do not take on general remodelling.

The narrowness is the point. A detached garage in Bozeman touches frost depth, site-specific snow load, a geotechnical requirement, three different permitting regimes depending on which side of a city limit you are on, and a development code the city replaced in February 2026. A contractor who builds one of these a year is not going to have those at their fingertips.

What that looks like in practice is that our first conversation is about your parcel rather than about us. Where can the building legally sit, what is under it, which authority reviews it, and what does the roof have to carry. Those four answers shape the design and most of the price.

How we work

Three habits worth knowing about

Site first

The lot decides more than the wishlist

We walk the ground before drawing anything. Setbacks, the septic drainfield and its replacement area, the approach, the grade and where roof snow lands all constrain the building before preference does.

Numbers we can source

Published figures, named sources

Every code figure on this site links to the authority that published it. Where something is uncertain, or recently changed, we say so instead of rounding it into a confident sentence.

Early bad news

Told at the walkthrough, not after

Not every lot fits the building somebody wants. Finding that out on a site visit costs nothing. Finding it out after plans are drawn and a geotechnical report is paid for costs real money.

What we will not claim

The things missing from this site, and why

Most contractor websites carry a set of numbers that nobody checks: years in business, projects completed, a star rating, a crew size, an award. They are easy to write and they are the first thing that falls apart when someone does check.

So this site does not carry them. There is no founding date, no project count, no review score and no badge. There is also, for now, no phone number, because the business has not given us one to publish and a made-up number is worse than none.

What is here instead is the part we can stand behind: how the buildings differ, what the ground does, which authority has jurisdiction over your parcel, what the published design criteria are, and what things cost. All of it is sourced.

When there are real reviews on a public platform and real photographs of completed work, both will appear here and both will be labelled for what they are.

Working with us

What the process looks like from your side

01

You get in touch

An address and a rough idea of the building is enough. Photographs of the site help more than measurements at this stage.

02

We walk the site

Access, grade, drainage, septic, setbacks and where the building can go. No charge and no obligation.

03

You get a range

A written cost range with the finish level, door sizes and slab specification named, so it can be compared with other quotes properly.

04

We design it

Plans and truss engineering to your site snow load, plus the geotechnical report inside Bozeman city limits.

05

We handle the permits

City building permit, county land use permit or a Certificate of Appropriateness, whichever applies to your parcel.

06

We build it

Excavation through final inspection, with the inspection schedule planned around the concrete rather than after it.

Questions

About the business

How long have you been building in Bozeman?

We are not publishing a founding date, a crew count or a project total on this site, because those are exactly the claims that are easy to write and hard to verify, and a contractor who inflates them is asking to be caught.

What we will do is tell you at the walkthrough what we have built that resembles your project, and answer specific questions about how we would approach yours.

Are you licensed and insured?

Ask us directly and we will give you the current details in writing rather than as a badge on a web page. Registration and insurance status change, and a claim that sits on a website for two years is worth less than a current certificate.

You should ask this of every builder you talk to, and you should ask for the document rather than the assurance.

Why are there no customer reviews on the site?

Because we have not put review content here that we could not stand behind. A star rating and a review count are trivially easy to fabricate and they are the first thing a consumer protection complaint gets built from.

When there are real reviews on a public platform, we will link to the platform so you can read them at the source rather than in a quote we chose.

Do you build anything other than garages?

Detached accessory buildings are what this business does: garages, shops, RV garages, post-frame buildings, lofts and garage apartments. We are not a general remodelling contractor and we do not build houses.

That is deliberate. A narrow scope is why we can talk sensibly about door header spans and county land use permits rather than treating a garage as a small version of something else.

What areas do you cover?

Bozeman and 20 surrounding communities across Gallatin, Park and Madison counties. The service areas section has a page for each one covering ground conditions, snow load and permitting authority in that specific place.

Distance affects scheduling more than price. If a location is far enough out to change the number, we will say so before you have spent anything.

Next step

Ask us something specific

The most useful first message is an address and a sentence about what you want to put in the building. We will tell you what is possible on that ground.
